After his father’s death in the movie “The Lion King”, Simba is having difficulty remembering who he is because of his life situation and his disconnection from his dad. Simba is running away from his past, because he think he’s guilty of his father’s death. But, he’s also running from his future, because he doesn’t think he’s worthy or capable of inheriting the throne. Simba is in a quandary. Because he’s worried about what has happened and afraid of what’s going to happen, Simba can’t enjoy what’s happening in his life at the moment. Does this sound like you?
When you think about any trial you may be experiencing, any trauma or tragedy you may have encountered, or anything that has shifted your focus from the things that feed your soul, it causes you to look at life through a really clouded lens. Trauma will also cause you to opt for some really dysfunctional behaviors in order to kill the pain of who you believe you have become!! Don’t believe the lie!
When we lose sight of our identity in Christ, our inheritance, our true selves, and our authority, we will settle for just about anything and compromise ourselves. When we don’t remember who we are, we will remain in unhealthy relationships, unfulfilling jobs, and take residence in places of desolation. When this happens we allow people (family & friends) to dishonor, disrespect and disregard our person-hood!
When we experience trauma, we tell ourselves something about ourselves. Generally, the enemy has a way of convincing us to believe a lie, which takes us into a trapped place, if we don’t have someone to help us process our pain. Today, there is an invitation for you to get to a place where you are able to reconnect with the Father (or Mother) which is your life source. Remember that you are a child of the King! Remember that you are chosen! Remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made!
Take another look! You are NOT who the enemy said you are! Take another look! See if you don’t see a reflection of the Father, because he lives in you! Who is your Rafiki? Who is the person to remind you of who you are? Pray! The Lord will direct your path! Give yourself permission to get help, so that you are able to remember who you are!!!
Take good care of you!
